Scott Township Emergency Medical Service was developed in 1997 to provide 24 hour - 7 day a week staffed ambulances with career Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics. Township Fire Service Leaders identified with the medical call volume (3000 emergency medical calls on average each year) that there was a need to provide Emergency Medical Service with career staffing. Scott Township Emergency Medical Service is governed through a Board of Directors made up of the leaders of the three Scott Township Fire Departments. The day to day operations are handled by the Director of Operations/EMS Chief and the Assistant Manager/Assistant EMS Chief. Scott Township Emergency Medical Service is part of the Scott Township Fire District and the 3 Fire Departments provide EMS support help through Medical First Responder Details (MFR) and a Quick Response Service (QRS). Many of East Carnegie Firefighters are cross-trained in EMS as well as Firefighting with 100% being trained in CPR/AED and several others are trained to the Medical First Responder, EMT, or Paramedic Level.
